30 May - The House is on Sale!

The House

Sorry for the delay in updating - we've had a hectic time. At lunchtime on Thursday 9th May, Urszula was whisked off as an emergency to Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot for a "minor breast operation". (She has not been too good since, but is well on the way to recovery now).

Suddenly, it all comes to a head? Life is too short to wait for the things you want, to come to you - Make it happen NOW!

Deborah has been in Thailand for six weeks - with Emma, Singapore next stop - to meet up with the third of the 'terrible trio', Miriam - Ula spoke to Deb's recently, it is very clear she is never going to "come home" so we no longer need to "have a home" to come back to?

God help the World with these three let loose upon it (Deborah is the tall one in the middle- Emma on the right, with Miriam to the left)

Whilst Ula was in hospital (and since), we have carried on clearing and cleaning and.... Today the house was valued (pleasant surprise) with; as best a guarantee as an Estate Agent can give, that they can sell within EIGHT WEEKS!

Tonight I arrived home from work to find a FOR SALE sign outside. This really is IT. We are, as I have put it before - jumping off the cliff.

After leaving hospital, Ula was desperately trying to get well enough for a pre-arranged holiday in Holland at Floriade, the world horticultural exhibition in the Netherlands - held only once in every ten years. She went with the gang from the "Primrose Club" - A group of friends who had kept together after doing an evening class in gardening (The Evening Primrose Club?). One of the member's; whose Wife had died a while back from breast cancer, had obviously had a long and serious talk with Urszula, as she returned, not only refreshed from the holiday - which was very good in itself - but with a much renewed vigour for making our plans happen now.

We might just have to take Kahawi off the market? If we sell the house that quick, we've nowhere to live - Great isn't it! Are we mad, or what?

House-hold Items

To be sold, and in earnest now. We've a new carpet arriving for the Sun-Lounge on Friday, this to make that area look as good as possible; which is really the best part of the house (although we were re-carpeting anyway, the Estate agents had recommended this one).

Simba looking very worried (his normal boating state) aboard Kahawi

Whilst Ula was at Floriade, I had been issued with a huge list of tasks to complete (even whilst ill, she is still organising me) The record collection and 1/2 the garage are about to be ditched in the local tip. In the coming weeks a garage sale will be organised, we might make a few bob, who knows?

Tonight we sat and (whilst simultaneously drinking a very good bottle of wine) made a full list of the larger items that we still own. Which do we keep (and where do we store them?) and which do we give away to friends, relatives, which do we sell at this "Garage Sale" we are having, see my earlier "concerns" about this. It is not getting any easier, I can tell you!!!

Now we have some serious deadlines to meet.....

?What are we going to do with Simba the DOG?
