November 1998 onwards:-

Motor Boat monthly.

Urszula, having read her first article on people who have sold up and sailed into the Med. decided that this is exactly what WE should do.

From then on various discussions took place of how we should do it and when?

Long-term plans have been devised and continually amended.

Colin set up a Web Site for Sell up Sail away; from then on it just snowballed, we Emailed and met with many like minded people and were on a high and could not wait to get away from it all.

Urszula's job is to plan the long-term strategy. (Ula has very successfully made all the major financial decisions, over the years since meeting Colin in 1978, who at that time owned a Mini-Van worth £25 and a Southern-Comfort sweat-shirt)

So here it goes, and as usual open to discussion and amendment:-

Situation in 1998/1999

Urszula was temping, working as Self Employed.

Early 1999 Urszula started a part time permanent receptionist job. (I did not think I needed to work, but suddenly there is a purpose on having to work).

Colin was contracting at Shell and had a lot of time for his extra curriculum activities like playing with Web Sites, designing these for others in exchange for practical sailing, having his dream steam boat built etc.

He is also staying on at work twice a week to complete his CISCO CCNA/CCNP course.

September 2000

CRB having left Shell, had a succession of sub-contracts with Vodafone and Ericsson, quits contracting mainly due to the UK governments IR-35 legislation and starts full time with EIS

Year 2005 C & U's pension coming in to maturity a good time to retire and sell up

East Coast cruising with BCC to gain more experience in boating in the open sea
